You come across mentions of deRham cohomology even when you learn electrodynamics, so it would surprise me if it was never mentioned.

In fact, since physics tends to jump straight to vector spaces and the reals and stays there for the most part - the algebras have all kinds of nice closures and even the groups are smooth (except in crystallography),
differential forms are about the only time when results particular to ring theory are really needed (at least in an undergrad treatment).

Yeah, no shit math is full of specialized subfields and you took the time to get even halfway knowledgeable in all of them you'd be taking classes well into year 12 of your phd. That's not a reason to avoid learning them, but don't let smallminded faggots dunk on you either for not immediately knowing what a de rham tensor sheaf is, odds are you also have specialized knowledge that they do not, and what you should try to do is exchange that knowledge
