Babies just don't die en masse like they used to so 2 babies means 2 babies for a lot of people. Instead of 7 babies meaning 1.5 possible children surviving to adulthood. It's why Africa still has a high childbirth rate.

In the physical sense it's probably impossible since MHC variation is a mechanism to specifically prevent such scenarios from happening. You could probably move shit back at least a few hundred years if you made a recombinant influenza/lyssa virus though.
