Thinning Lips Question

Wondering if anyone has an answer to this: As lips shrink throughout age, let's say from 20-40 for now, is there a need to close the mouth even more at rest as the opening between the lips gets slowly larger? As in you must bring the lips even closer together with more subconscious effort? Or do the lips only shrink on the outside, exposing more philtrum/area above chin?

As lips shrink from 20-40, is there any loss (even millimeters) in soft tissue facial height on the lower third of the face?
