You kinda need 3 ingredients to simulate the universe:
Initial conditions or just instantaneous position and velocity of all particles
A mathematical model with all forces and interactions between them
Computational power
If you cannot calculate positions and velocity, you kinda end up with cumulative error and a bad prediction.
Being "good enough at math" only helps with the 2nd part. Depending on the type of manipulation you want, you may need something else.
