Best Neurology book for someone with a STEM background and only college level understanding of Biology? I don't have a medical background just a MechE BS.

Need to learn everything about the nervous system and how it works. Both the central and peripheral.

most complicated would likely be the autonomous nervous system as a part of peripheral but even that is just... memorization?

I've suffered an electrical nerve injury and I'm trying to learn everything about it in order to get better, the neurological long term sequelae of electrical injury is not very well understood.

theres no such thing as "electrical nerve injury"

nerves use ion currents
electrical current (from the outside world) uses electrons

maybe you meant to say you got burned? any way, most neuropathies are not caused by direct damage to nerves but rather other stuff (like pressure from outside structures, or accumulation/lack of proteins)

Currently not working because of the injury. It's affected my entire body but primarily my arms and legs. But electrical injury to nerve cells is a real thing. Electroporation seems to be the primary mechanism.

"Skeletal muscle and peripheral nerve cells are particularly vulnerable to direct electrical force effects because of their relatively large size compared to other tissue cells. About a year, almost no improvement. All my muscles are constantly twitching, I have nerve pain throughout my body, parasthesisa and muscle weakness. It's not very pleasant to say the least.

if ur lucky, there is some thickened fascia/structure pressing on the nerves and causing these issues, this can be removed surgically quite easily and is pretty low risk
if your unlucky, the nerve is damaged permanently and scar tissues has developed, then its over

if it is chronically as you say, there might be other causes as well , you can try eliminating those (diabetes, thyroid issues, vitamin b6 deficiency) as well as rule out metal poisonings

It's an electrical injury so the damage is not from pressure or a structure compressing the nerve, it's from the current flowing through the tissues. I did get a Vitamin B12 and Thyroid test and thankfully the results were normal. I think the damage is on a cellular level, so not entirely sure what to expect.

even if you get shocked directly into the nerves, you'd at best just get local damage (see the table that you posted)
reason for that being that electrical current does not flow through your nerves, the only thing that does flow through your nerves is an ion current (which is heavily speed limited compared to electrical current)

whats possible is that the nerve died locally and burns/scar tissue formed and or other fascia thickened due to that injury

you also said you had an EMG done but not where exactly the damage is, which doesn't make any sense because the whole point of an EMG is to pinpoint where exactly the nerve is damaged

how can you not know where exactly the damage is if you've had the same issues already for a 1 year?
