yes, children living in fear is proper. If you had read what I wrote, you'd see that I suggest that children always lived in fear, and today is no different.
A child cannot differentiate between logical and illogical fears, such as a boogeyman out to kill him, or eventual climate catastrophes. However, at least a logical fear will lead the child towards considering the environment in every decision he makes.
Whereas the illogical fear of boogeymen will simply damage his intrapersonal relationships.
I am not saying that "children SHOULD live in fear." What I'm saying is that we have always scared children, and children themselves have always scared themselves too, whether that be through scary stories, movies, books, etc.
Now at least, the way we scare them has some legitimacy, and future use.
