Phrases like "it's easier to teach finance to a mathematician than mathematics to a finance major" are just window dressing. The reality is there are too many finance majors and just about the right amount of physicists and mathematicians to fill positions. So instead of admitting blame, they shift it to "Oh, you are not quantitatively oriented. Sorry, your fault for studying something we shilled for you to study back then".
I say enjoy it, I certainly am. But the reality is that not even in the most sophisticated quant position will you use anything beyond what you learn in Probability I.
