Will conservation have an impact on the amount of speciation events and as a result amounts of species in the future? If there's breeding programs that try to mix separate populations together, surely there's a lower likelihood of new species emerging to fill the niches of others going extinct. How do we account for this lost future diversity? Do we try and conserve populations of the same species separate from one another to try and promote adaptation?
