What is the energy that is contained within a piece of wood? Does it just come from the binding energies between the atoms?
lets say I have a 10x10 block of wood, what is its energy?

Entropy is the measure of disorder in a system. Entropy will always increase unless you insert work.
Particle physics does not have a definition of energy or mass.
The energy in wood in the chemical bonds. Setting the wood on fire releases energy. It manifest as heat, sound, light etc.

Basically, it is the internal energy of a system that cannot be used to do work. Classically, entropy is a state function--which means it is a variable is path independent-- that satisfies
$\Delta S=\int\frac{\delta Q}{T}$ which basically says the change of entropy of a system during some kind of thermodynamic process is equal to the sum of the tiny increments of heat that flow into the system from its surrounding divided by the current temperature.
If you ask a stat mech fag, he will tell you that entropy is proportional to the sum of probabilities of microstates times the log of blahblahblah which turns out to be equal to the log of the number of micro-states within a system. Or $S=k_b\log\Omega$ .
In practice, you lookup entropy on a table that has been compiled with lots and lots of experimentation.

This is pretty vague. But the energy that comes from a piece of wood when you burn it does come from the energy stored in chemical bonds. Yes.

What has more disorder? The wood as it sits or the ash, heat, light, CO2 etc.
That tree had to put in work to organize the sunlight, CO2, water, and minerals into the living tissue of the tree.

Are you asking about disorder or entropy? I don't know what "disorder" is.
To calculate the entropy of a system or substance, you have to know the values of at least two other state variables (like temperature and pressure, or density and enthalpy). This is called the state postulate.

But, entropy exist in many fields. It is not always a heat phenomenon. If you do not clean up your room then the entropy has increased. You would have to put work in to folding laundry, picking up your gay magazines etc. This is not a thermodynamic phenomenon.

Okay, here's an analogy. So you have a container with a bunch of stuff jiggling around. If you have a a second container filled with stuff that isn't jiggling as much, you can use the jiggle from the first container to do work (like push on a piston). But a portion of that jiggle cannot be used. That is entropy.

This explanation seems to not be valid a low temperature. For instance, imagine that I can decrease the temperature of a system below the environment. For lower temperatures the entropy is lower (because you are decreasing the energy), but the amout of possible work that can be done by exchanging energy with the environment is increasing (because thermal efficiency is related with temperature differences)
