So I have to ask, deeper down they are, do they rust slower?

Would things like weapons in the ships of WW2 wreaks will be salvageable if they were at the bottom of the pacific?

Old Lugers in U-boats off the shores of the East Coast?

If so is it because of the cold temp, lack of oxygen in the water, ?

Highly unlikely, if the oxygen rich salt water and rust doesn't get them the bacteria will

tl;dr a pistol that's been at the bottom of the ocean for a few years probably isn't ever working again, nevermind 70+ years. I imagine a luger from a uboat would be barely recognisable as a gun by this point.

You do understand what "rust" actually is, right? These weapons are just going to be large chunks or vaguely gun-shaped iron oxide. There's nothing there to restore, you're essentially asking if it's possible to turn toast back into bread.
