(PS: kate bouman's algorithm was not used in making the "final image" which OP posted). they did a lot of very serious and good work to analyze the data EHT compiled for making that image, and they even used Kate's version as an example of how NOT to make a meme image, in making their actual BH image
in any case the whole "imaging" thing is obviously oriented to popsci media. the actual scientists behind the image were more concerned with looking at histograms and graphs, not the meme image (which never took Kate's algorithm into account)
