I know you guys hate biology (ecology) sort of stuff and prefer more mathematical sciences. But what do you guys think about molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics? Do you find it interesting or just another part of a defunct genre of science?

In PhD program for it, halfway through it. Currently very comfy, I enjoy it, but I've always enjoyed and been curious about living things, specifically cells and what makes them work. The people I work with are great. Oh don't do it if you care about money, I'll likely never be rich. Realize if you go for it you have to go for a PhD or your BS/MS will be useless, it's oversaturated to shit

Most of what I do is cell bio, with biochemistry to confirm results or when reviewers want it (always). it's molecular bio though, mostly trying to identify protein-protein interactions and regulation of such. I'm not interested in industry personally, likely gonna try to go academic route, I have a fairly good chance with the people I know, would just have to mentally commit to it really... Not in this for money at all, I have 0 debt or financial burdens/obligations currently.
I'll warn you, labwork is so fucking time consuming, tiring, and wears you down because it fails so often. But it's super comfy, at least at grad school, like today I'm still at home, havnt even gone in yet
