As an easy example put addition and subtraction at the bottom, learning the alphabet,learning to count and read etc at the bottom, then as you move up to the middle you have like highschool chemistry/physics/biology etc, then at the top would be like quantum mechanics/music theory/higher maths etc.
You can't study or understand any of the information on the pyramid until you have an understanding of the fields below and around it.
Say you are terrible at maths and you try physics, that's gonna make your head hurt.
You need to start studying the elementary building blocks first, start at the beginning. Also I found the way the education system works in western countries as counter intuitive and more or less rediculous.
