Hello again everyone, it’s your fellow amateur orthopedist here! As some of you may remember, I’ve been sharing the progress of my toe on /sci/ throughout the past four years. Not very often, and not bombastic enough to garner a screen cap. So for all of you newbies I’ll bring you up to speed: I got an in grown toenail around Easter 2016, and things steadily went downhill from there. An active duty sailor at the time, my doctors would reach the limit of litocaine they could administer to an adult human and I would still be in extreme pain. Doctors have also refused to put me under General anesthesia so I’ve been stuck with a throbbing, leaking nightmare. Which brings us to the present day.
Around two months ago I decided I would let my deeply cut nail grow out past my swollen toe meat. Or through it, to be more precise. The pain for about 20 days was excruciating, akin to bamboo torture but it was my own body slowly tearing through my tender flesh. Eventually though, a the nail emerged and I have enjoyed fantastic relief! The exterior growth is still there, and I drain my toe of puss and blood before putting in my boots everyday. Toe pairs of socks last a day, then I switch pairs for another day and then turn each inside out so four socks will last four days. I can’t really handle wearing them longer then a day because the amount of dried blood and pus makes the toe of my socks incredibly brittle as you can imagine. Things are looking up, however the white hue slowly expanding under my toenail is a newfound mystery. I secretly hope my nail bed is just slowly dying and it will pop off one day and I’ll be freed from this nightmare. Any who, I’ll be sure to let you guys know what’s up around Easter for my fourth anniversary!
