How to be part of the age of biotech

Hello guys.
I need advice on what to pursue as a career. I have a lot of spare income to spend on education but idk what is a smart direction to go to. all I know is, forgive me if this sounds naive or idealistic, but I want to be part of the future that is fast approaching us in any way I can. Now the standard advice is "get a bachelor's degree in biology, premed, BME, etc." But of course I have seen the potential disaster of that, it can lead you to a stuffy job as a research assistant or, potentially nowhere. I am not too interested in research any way.
I have thought about pursuing law for a long time, and I would really love to apply law to biotech. Legalizing drugs, allowing people to experiment on themselves, fighting against restrictions on sex robots, etc.
But I don't know. Maybe I've been reading too many comics lol.
How do I figure this out though? I feel like most career advice focuses on a specific "job" rather than an "area of interest" (which I think is becoming a bad way of doing things as the job market changes)
