You realize if IQ tests had any merit to them it'd be pointless when you're literally training to pass the test instead of improving overall intelligence

Why don't IQ test have merit? "Intelligence" can't be improved, you will take the same amount of time to learn similar concepts, and when you encounter something new, you will learn that concept according to your ability of pattern recognition
