Does someone know how to read this needle device. This is sci, so it shouldn't be hard to solve. I know i can read to 0.01 mm, but what is the reference point. Need help NOW.

check which marking on the right matches with one of the markings on the left. that would be the fraction of a milimeter.

Thanks for the advice, I get it now. Matching the markings was also the right answer, i.e. 47.8 mm + distance from 0 to 48 which is 0.02 mm. Add that all up and the measurement should total 47.82 mm.
