Why dont the planets fall into the Sun over time? I get that their momentum along their orbit prevents this and there isn't anything in space to cause loss of momentum, but shouldn't asteroid impacts and random particle impacts "de-orbit" a planet over time? Billions of years of solar particle bombardment and impacts should eventually slow the planets orbit to the point where they begin getting closer to the Sun before eventually being consumed by it, yet this obviously isn't the case. Are these forces simply too small to effect the orbital velocity of a planet, even over billions of years? How do planets get their initial orbital velocities? Is all the proto planetary disk material orbiting at speeds fast enough to prevent them from falling toward the Sun? On that note, why doesnt this happen with Moons? I know that our Moon is moving away at about 5 yards a year but that doesnt seem like it should even be possible?

Am I just overthinking this? Is it just a case of Solar scale being much greater than human scale?
