It depends on what you study. If it's a field with a large or growing job demand, then it's worth it. If it's not, then it's probably better self teaching.

I got a4 year com sci degree, and it got me 80K salary a month after graduating.

These are all good because it is really hard to outsource them to other countries unlike programming or manufacturing. Office buildings and homes will always need plumbing and air conditioning. You can't also send a patient overseas for sonographing or teeth cleaning.

seriously just get an engineering or compsci degree from some middling state university if you're actually half way intelligent, this shit really isn't worth it otherwise. plus my back and hips and joints are already starting to go and I'm not even 30. the trades are no picnic only get into them if you have nowhere else to go, don't fall for the memes

If anything you should do a course that results in both certified technical training as well as a Bachelor's while getting paid all the way. This is called "dual study" here in Germany and if you dual study with a top employer from the industry, you'll have both the aforementioned qualifications, on-the-job training, college training as well as business experience. All while getting paid. Time is divided between practical phases in the business and theoretical/typical college phases on campus.

If you take anything after calc (statics, dynamics (of any kind), calc 2 or 3, it only gets progressively harder.
Like he said it's really not for everyone, but if you have the skill and a good foundation (and fucking tons of practice) AND you do well in calc 1, you will succeed.
It's common that if you do poorly in your introductory or low level courses you'll do even worse in the later courses, so if you do well there's a chance but the amount of work you put in is astronomical if you're a stranger to hard work and shit tons of effort.

Well I've been practicing algebra more or less every day for months now (this is after going from algebra to calc already in khan academy, so I'm trying to keep it fresh now) so I'm no stranger to hard work. I just don't really know what the expectations are, there's an absolute fuckload of things to remember and I don't know if I can keep up but I'm going to try

I'm currently apprenticing with a business owner who started out as a tradesman and eventually became a qualified engineer. Calculus will have a huge swathe of trig functions throughout the entire series and if you don't know them all 100% you will fail.
Calculus 1, early in the semester, will deal with limits and differentiation, by the time you finish differentiation you'll be close to the drop (with W instead of WF) date and you'll have a very good idea of whether or not you can make the cut.
