They too allow to recombine mRNA.
Like for example if you have a gene with 3 exons on your preRNA (so cut by 2 introns) the cell can recombine it to build up to 9 different RNAs (and so 9 proteins).
The question is: why are introns so big (around 10 times longer than exons)?
Is it meant to stabilize the genome (by, for example, making translocation less likely impact exons) or on the opposite make it more volatile to mutations (by putting more ingredients into the soup)?
I guess we'll have to wait for the mathfags to simulate it in order to understand the logic.
