"Community" just means that its a college on a city level. It's not a big private institution, it's not run by the state.
As for the quality of the education, like everywhere else it just depends on your teachers.
I took some courses at a community college and my botany professor was old as fucking dirt, but he had lived in the dakotas his whole life and the guy knew every blade of grass across the great plains and his passion project was a big tallgrass prairie reclamation project on land the school owned.
When you got into the middle of it alone, the only sign of humanity you could see were planes flying over head, and you could imagine how it would feel to be a plains indian in a literal ocean of man-high grass.
I never gave a shit about plants before I had that dusty ass, deaf as fuck crypt keeper of a professor in Flyover, USA Community College.
Also had a pretty cool astronomy prof, really young guy, and since we were in the plains labs were fucking awesome because we'd just go out to Farmer John's farm 20 miles outside of town and we had such good conditions you could see the shadow venus cast.
