this prevents a possible checkmate by white bishop on E5 if white would move rook from G7 to for example G3.
this position is more solid for white.
11.4 W: C2 -> B3
black has to move the queen to C8 (or E8), if white doesnt check the next turn, which it wont, black can move pawn C6 -> C7 threatening a possible ckeck on white king by black queen, depending on whites reaction.
a much better idea than 11.4 is
11.5 W: E5 -> B8
just take the rook for zero cost, bitter for black. followup could be a black resign or a desperate push like
12.5 B: B6 -> D4
positioning the bishop for a black queen attack.
13.5 W: G7 -> G8 !
check, black still has the queen and can
14.5 B: E6 -> G8
white has no further follow up at that point
maybe instead of 13.5 do
13.6 W: C2 -> B3
rooks and bishop are in position for checkmate, not sure if black can prevent it at that point anymore
