my 2nd day java and teacher tells us we need to know this. this os too fast for me. i really have trouble with variables if there are so many of them and frankly it took me 6 hours to resolve a basic task. how do i learn quick? and is this normal?

Variables are variables cause they can be anything you want them to be. They're given human-readable names, by the human writing the code. I didn't learn programming at school but it seems a rather essential part to understand programming is how uniquely human readable per persons it's able to be; and i could imagine an easy tripping point being in the idea that there is no clear distinction between imported/natural functions and actual variables - which would be sensory overload in thinking all things have specific names that need to be memorized.

Either this isn't an introductory course to programming but instead an course specifically about the way you program in java, or your instructor is a retard.
