Just received the results of my test

Just received the results of the mensa test I took a couple of days ago. Not really suprised by my score but I had hoped I would be higher.

I got 4th percentile wich should translate to an iq of 127-128 if I'm not mistaken (obviously I got rejected), what can I do with such an iq?

By the way how accurate are those tests?

The real IQ test is what does a person conclude from a test on such basic topics. If his first thought is about his IQ, his IQ is below average (average is 100).

My first thought seeing the results was how low my score on the matrice sub test was though.

I think it's mostly because I panicked when I noticed how different they looked from the ones I was used to solve.

Yeah I "practiced", but like I said the matrices I had to solve were different from the ones I was used to solve.

Hello and welcome to /sci/.
In the most general sense, IQ is defined as the quotient between what you "should" score by a certain age against what you actually score. The test actually makes no sense if the taker hasn't had a chance to practice the skills it tests for.
It would be like trying to measure how much muscle someone can build without letting them train.

By the way, your inability to properly use "its" and "it's" is a clear indicator of lower verbal IQ and therefore lower cognitive ability. But that's neither here nor there. Have a nice day on /sci/, anon.

I would disagree. IQ is supposed to measure fluid intelligence. If one were allowed to practise, it would start to measure crystallised intelligence instead of fluid intelligence.

That means you scored higher than 4% of test-takers. 96% scored at or above your level. That's an IQ around 75 or so.

Tend to score arround 120-133 on those pre test.

Yes it was very different, in my country there is not only matrices but also numerical series and analogy.
But even the matrice part was different, it was not the usual 3*3 cube but another form.

Over all it lasted less than 30 minutes, both the analogy part and the numerical series lasted 6-8 minutes and the matrice one 10 minutes.

The raw scores and percentile given are different compared to the ones of other people I've seen, my guess is that not all questions have the same value.

I don't want to get recognized based on my raw score/percentile if that pic start circulating.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of what the values suggest. You're compared against a norm, which inherently implies the average person has not trained for the task. You're imagining more like a college entrance exam than a measure on intelligene. If you practice for a test and compare yourself against people who on average don't practice, the measure is invalid.

I'd say the MENSA test is already invalidated by the fact that testers are training to gain access to an exclusive club, which basically measures your proficiency at the MENSA test rather than an inate ability.

Except that the average person has in fact trained for the task.
Your blind spot is this: you recklessly assume that "training" NECESSARILY means focused learning in a classroom setting.
In reality, living, playing, and working all train logical, spatial, verbal, etc. reasoning.

It is common knowledge that repeating a test induces a training effect. You're monitoring the effect of training for the exam, not any direct measure of intelligence. Performance in a novel task is a much better measure than an entrance exam type test.
