"Mass" is used in two fundamental ways.

1) Momentum
2) Gravity

What connects these two exactly?
Why is an object's momentum tied to it's gravity with the same factor?

The equivalence principle. There's actually a difference between inertial mass (the connection to momentum) and gravitational mass (connection to gravity). There's no known reason why these should be equal or the same.

2. Because gravity is accelerating an object with respect to velocity, as velocity is to respect to time.

Gravity accelerates the same as electrostatics. Yet for electrostatics, it's charge that determines the strength of the force, not the inertial mass.
