Realistically, is it possible to begin learning mathematics at age 24 and get to a good enough level to enroll in an applied mathematics undergraduate program at a well-ranked university?

I know the often-touted cliche of "it's never too late! here's an example of one or two geniuses who started in old age from the 16th century!". But is there any real examples I can actually relate to or hear personal stories that aren't made up from people on here?

I live in Canada and I would like to attend a program in the Mathematics department of the University of Waterloo
