I had to bullshit most of everything and when it really mattered I had to force myself at the last minute, which (expectedly) ended up having poor results (<2.0 gpa). I just wageslave nowadays, and I have grown apathetic after seeing all my former colleagues fly past me.
I wouldn't criticize my upbringing as it was better than most, so I'm sorry for your unfortunate circumstances. I've always known I was "wired" differently, but it became a reality once I was actually challenged in college. I'm pretty pessimistic about the concept of adhd, let alone how it is treated, but I would be lying if I didn't say that I fit every bit of its description. After almost dropping out of college I got diagnosed, but I still don't feel confident in taking medication. Though what I've heard constantly from a few friends that did take medication (usually adderall) is that their only regret is that they wish they had taken it sooner.
