Everybody knows about Tungsten Carbide, Silicon Carbide, Boron Carbide, etc.
However there are many other carbides, and they all are very hard and amazingly dense, high melting point, and conductive (heat and electric).
But nobody has ever made Gold Carbide or Lead Carbide.
These are billion dollar compounds.
