At UofT is similar in difficulty to engineering or maths programs - people often drop out from CS into those due to difficulty.

To what? There are several thousand students that enroll with the goal of getting into the program and only people with perfect 4.0 GPAs across their CS courses are let in. This is at a one of the schools that didn't do grade inflation as well, the average GPA is around 2.5
