I have neglected to look into the pKas, heat, or catalysts that could be required for any of this. It seems harmless enough to experiment with, but I need to know if N2O could create any hazardous byproducts in this case.
>>11008971As far as I understand, atoms are made up of protons, neutrons, and electrons. It is the number of each that characterizes the element. Elements behave in ways that are beneficial to themselves, like trying to complete an octet of electrons for example. Looking at water, H2O, you see the two covalent bonds oxygen makes with hydrogen. This allows for each hydrogen to have 2 electrons (full) in their 1st orbitals, while oxygen has 8 electrons (full) in its second orbital. Because of the unequal "polar" distribution of electrons in the molecule and the covalent bonds, the attribute of the entire molecule is unique.
