Science is about making models with the best possible predictive power we can.
It is not about uncovering “the truth” or finding out what “really exists” or what is “actually the case”. That doesn’t matter. What matters is what we observe, what we can test, and how these tests and observations agree with models. If the models are wrong, they’re modified, discarded, or kept on hand if their particulars are easier to work with and usually accurate as with Newton’s model of gravity.
As in, I don’t care if space can really “warp”. That’s irrelevant. What matters is that relativity makes the best predictions, and so we use it. If these endeavors lead us closer to the “truth”, that’s just icing on the cake.
