At first, my whole argument will only work if you agree with following statement:if you create new electronic version of yourself, fully simulating your brain this thing will have its own but not your consciousness, but if you replace all your neurons one after another with electronic neurons to become fully electronic being this entity WILL preserve your consciousness. So there is some notion of "continuous in time" property that should always be satisfied for consciousness to be the same.
Now, first obvious thing that we can observe that no people on earth have fully continuous consciousness. Each time we go to sleep our consciousness dissapear and then apear again after we awake. We could say, fine, no big deal, we die each time we go to bed and each morning new man born with our memory. But it is going further than that.
We can diversify information with precision roughly 240 FPS (upper bound), i.e. things that happening on much faster rate (flickering of the screen as example) goes comeplitly unnoticable for our consciousness. But we know that our universe operate on much much faster scale than that. 1 / Planck time ~ 1855 x 10^40 FPS. So IN SOME SENSE, on average, our consciousness works about once in 7.7 x 10^40 universal ticks. In other words we are unconscious almost all of the time! In other case the world around us would go so slowly that even a second would last eternity for us.
Considering all of that we can conclude that any continuous notion of consciousness is simply impossible. It either spontaneous (exists for only very short amount of time and then dissaper), which is higly unlikely. Or do not present at all.
I believe that consciousness is nothing but a trick of the brain. We only remember being able "feel yourself being conscious", but never actually being conscious. The notion of consciousness added to our memory after the fact, and then we simply process this memory as any computer would do. There is nothing special about us. Never was.
