I don't get the point of these. I mean, as a military mule, I can understand, but that would require a version about 5x the size and probably gas powered. But this little thing can barely carry 30lb, 90min battery life......and for what purpose exactly? to carry the foreman's cup of coffee? you can do that yourself or give the job to the temp. Carry a single cinder block"? wow, so 15 cinderblocks til batteries are drained......again, what is exactly the purpose of this thing (other than being a richfag's toy to brag about for about a week)?

100% they have tested it already. DARPA is a big part of the funding for these guys and Atlas. Military application is first and foremost.

The US military doesn't trust robots to kill. We can probably make a robot kills anything that moves, but the issue with that is said robots would cause a lot of collateral damage. Getting a robot to figure out who's the enemy and who's not is very, very, very hard and basically requires human level intelligence. Because robots don't have common sense, they may also be liable to killing allies because what they may think is a solid wall, may in fact be a thin metal sheet with allies behind it. So said said robots would need to be remote controlled which is very limiting. Comm links can be jammed and latency can be pretty bad. Communication won't work well in bunkers or caves. However, there's a pretty good case for near autonomous combat drones. It's pretty easy to figure out what's an enemy and what's not when you're in the air. And really the US should be building combat drones rather than F-35's.

Are you guys dumbasses? They already said what they're for.
You release a bunch of them into a town, complex or cave and they use their facial recognition software to find key targets and either mark them with onboard equipment or just set a trigger to detonate.
They dont need big carrying capacity or battery life for that.

Probably 10-20 years. An emp can turn any device into garbage. Using a faraday shield would do nothing as well, since the device will need to take commands from either an infrared reciever, or a radio signal.

Plus the possibility of killing U.S. soldiers, though that can be solved with an RFID on every soldier.

the range/battery would be too short to send off by itself. But, armed to go into a building (short range) to take on hostiles in close proximity would be an idea. Expect to see these things carted around by SWAT/ Special Ops teams.

They can also operate in inhospitable conditions. 1:30 hours doesn't seem like a lot, but imagine doing something strenuous for that long. You could replace the battery in shifts to get a full workday.
