f6 and b4 are wedge moves. Playing wedge moves from the opening instead of the more common middle move allowed me to beat the intermediate difficulty. The merit of wedge moves is to cover the key squares rather than be on them. It's twice as fast.
However, perhaps having all four center squares is stronger than the two wedge squares in the long run. Therefore, one wedge move followed by one or two middle moves might be the way to go.
