Find what learning method works for you, I find that learning everything in a big chunk then expecting to solve problems doesn't work for me (bad memory) so looking at a problem researching what I need to learn, actually spend some time learning that, then attempt to solve things while I still remember it works. Also daily upkeep, make it a habit.
