>>11006610>It's not ambiguous.Yes, it is. Holy shit, just stop already you fucking autist. This is well established.
Why the fuck do you think this is a recurring bait thread?
IT'S BECAUSE THE NOTATION IS DELIBERATELY AMBIGUOUS YOU DENSE PIECE OF SHIT.
Here, learn something:
http://www.math.harvard.edu/~knill/pedagogy/ambiguity/>Parentheses first 2+2=4, then left to right so 8/2=4, 4*4.>8/(2(2+2)) would be 1.Congratulations, you picked one of the multiple contradicting notation interpretations like an absolute fool, exactly as OP intended.
It's not "then left to right" if multiplication by juxtaposition comes before division by solidus, which is one of those multiple notation interpretations you're choosing to arbitrarily reject because it hurts your feelings not to have the one true answer or something.
And the problem isn't "8/(2(2+2))," it's "8÷2(2+2)." Adding in your own parentheses and replacing the solidus with a slash makes it a different problem. Which, once again, IS THE ENTIRE POINT.
