I saw "island of atheism" used once. Atheists in the middle of dumber and smarter religious people.
I see it as a sort of Dunning-Kruger effect. They know the world's more than 6000 years old so all religion is wrong. They're too stupid to work out that God doesn't have to be like the bible says.

Religion is an irrational stance by definition, so it's brainlet to follow it. That's why asians and jews have high percentages of atheism and developed countries tend to be less religious.
Also, a lot of geniuses didn't have religion. Einstein and Asimov come to mind.
