How far off are we from self-replicating killer robots?

Just think, in the not so distant future a /pol/-minded person could release drones that use AI to target individuals with certain physical traits, and if those drones also had the ability to replicate and learn to survive it would be catastrophic.

It doesn't seem far-fetched tbqhwy.
