>>11001441I don't know, I think it's a fairly good perspective. You might argue that truth is more important than usefulness but this misses the point that you can spend your life in pursuit of things that are both true and useful.
You could make the case that we need people pursuing truth for it's own sake where ever it leads because the applicability of certain types of knowledge aren't always readily apparent, and I would agree.
I think you would be hard pressed to find a form of knowledge that has no application whatsoever.
