Basically I want to go into chemistry and/or physics that is focused on biology because I want to get in on the future of genetic engineering and all that but I don't want to do straight bio. Would Biophysics be an interesting field to go into? Any advice?

You are still quite young, take your time to carefully decide. Read a book about the subject, see if is genuinely interesting to you. Then check job offers, visit labs, and talk/research about people that works on the field, see if that's the kind of life you want.

Agree with >>11001544. Sure, given your interests in applying chemistry and/or physics to biology I think biophysics would be a good fit. Does your undergraduate institution have a major in biophysics? Few do, though not many. What I would recommend is to proceed with the major in chemistry or in physics (starting with your intermediate courses next year). And, what is as important is to join a lab as an undergrad that catches your interest. Biophysics is a very broad field, and there are many fields and sub-fields that overlap: biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, structural biology, systems biology, computational chemistry, etc. At this point in your career, get your undergrad degree and start to get your feet wet in the lab, find what catches your interest.

I have a 3.9. I have done lots of extracurricular work in hospitals and in the medical scene. i do not find it interesting.
