People don't tend to live in the desert, Las Vegas and such excepted. Same with hydro, mountains aren't very populated areas. People live in moderately cool, wet areas near rivers and the sea. Solar is good, but it's not as good as nuclear power. Rare earths are needed, which makes us dependent on China. Uranium is found all over the world.
Wind just doesn't work as an energy source. They just lie and lie about how cheap it is, ignoring the reliability issues which raise real prices. There's no use in using wind half the time and natural gas the other half. Just use one system that can guarantee energy security.
There are general advantages to having a single energy supply. Economies of scale are largest if you're all nuclear, or all coal or whatever. You can use the same plant design all over the place, you can afford to modernize and develop new technologies.
If you have half a dozen energy sources, you split your brainpower into six independent groups. You're doing more R&D, making more designs and using each one less.
Inevitably, one system will be better than the others in the vast majority of cases, where the vast majority of people are located. That's nuclear.
