Those disciplines are strongly connected, but they study different things.

?psychology is studying "software"
It's important to study both. One won't acquire broad sufficient knowledge of how human mind and body work if studiyng only the "hardware" side.

There's no any other more scientific discipline than psychology that would study human "software".
Some theories and methods are dated, that's a fact. The worst thing one can do to an important discipline that needs renovation is spreading the propaganda that the discipline is unnecessary and useless. When not only it is necessary as explained above, but also practically useful in our lives.
