my class wants me to study "physics for engineers and scientists" by giancoli or something but i have a feeling there's a better textbook out there.

you can derive all of physics from string theory so it makes sense to learn string theory first.

What level of physics? Are you taking university or college level? The memesters here will tell you meme answers but just go to openstax and download their physics books they're easy to grasp.

not really disincentive, /sci/ just only recommends books that are graduate level at most universities, unless you're going to MIT they're going to be covering material you won't see until your graduate degree
