any critiques of the book I should know about? it was the only aestheticc book on chemistry I could find (and yes i scoured the wiki) and I've really been enjoying it so far. good questions and examples in it, but mostly I enjoy the simple text formatting with black and white images. not the modern stylistic cancer that is most collegiate textbooks

There's not really much to critique about a very basic textbook. Especially not when it's one of the best for its field.

it was the coolest I found. Pauling seems to've been a boss and I skimmed the first couple chapters from a dozen or so highly recommended ones from /sci/ wiki, plebbit, rando university sites, amazon, etc and this one was the only one of it's kind that I found. oldie but goodie. seems a common occurence in the science/math literature.

cheap ass dover book too.

he has at least two intro level books and 'chemical principles' is, or at least was, the better of them

i was joking about the refusal. these shit books at all school has ever shoved down my throat. but when i do my own studies i make sure i’m gonna enjoy it. i just don’t understand the appeal and shift towards the former, it’s not comfy at all

I own it, for self-study as a hobby, I really know what you mean I can't stand modern textbooks like >>10992775. Dover books really rocks.

Also if you want this channel has a lot of videos on first year chemistry and it has some videos with fully worked out solutions for the first two chapter of Pauling's book.
