It's totally possible, hydrogen bombs and Fusors are a thing, the issue is that to get a good reactivity rate from fusion you need a plasma that is at its opacity temperature, this means you'll have the radiation pushing outwards with the force required to keep the reaction going, it's basically all but impossible to really engineer as a reactor which has a net energy gain, however with Uranium and Thorium at 30-15$/kg and similar energy content to Deuterium which is over 1000$/kg there's no real need for fusion at this time. If you want unlimited power, be big brain, and build an energy amplifier or reactor in your garage.
But governments use power as a way to extract more money from people, and politicians/normies are reallllllly dumb, which is why they push for 2$/kwh solar panels that dont work for shit rather than using hydroelectric or reactors so don't expect them soon anon.
