What is going on in this formula?
I've done with Abstract Algebra, Analysis, Topology, Complex Analysis, and some introductory Number Theory. What should I do now to understand how this fomular works at inducing pi?

Anyways isn't it weird how Ramanujan is the only acclaimed Indian mathematician (that I can think of). I mean, they produce probably one of the greatest mathematical minds in history, and that's it, nothing else, it's so strange.

1st and 3rd are from centuries ago, it's work incomparable in scope and complexity to modern mathematics. They're not so much acclaimed as they are recognized like archimedes.

Admittedly Bose was great, but he wasn't a mathematician.

Honestly the time you save by whatever convergence rate is not worth having to work out terms of the infinite sum and decide how many digits you want to approximate root 2. Really bad.

There's a video on youtube of a dude computing 14 digits of pi by hand with two terms of the formula using a pretty bad approximation of root two (like, two or three terms of the binomial series for root two)
