Tbh matrix like jack in the back of head is most likely solution for fulldive vr.
Only other solution is if the brain is plastic enough to change and adapt to activate into dream like body control mode and favor inputs in a different mode. Basically you could have it so data was delivered via portion of vison or stimulation of an area or whatever but you basically supply full body sensation data in a small patch. Ideally the brain learns to when connecting, go into a paralyzed state and stop sensing the patch like a physical thing but process it like spinal input and precieve feeling what is in the data. Then paralyzation means any movement of body can be made and it will traanslate direct to game. Idk how paralyzaion would be achieve thouhh, as you would have to induce it. Maybe some sort of transcranial magnetic stimulation that targets just the pons? If figured out that could actually be amazing for researching if something like this is possible
Otherwise were stuck with absurdly expensive haptic gloves on the way or just unimmersive controls like we have today. Vision tech is impressive but decieving like that, it still is a big brick on face. If it went direct to the nervous system it could probably represent much wilder visuals without as much compute
