4chan used to create 95% of the memes on the internet, contributing joy and laughter to the internet.

4chan started as refuge for misunderstood misfits who just wanted a place to be themselves and fit in.
But being huge pack of wild misunderstood misfits generates a reputation. We tried to police our population growth with rules 1 and 2 (fight club rules), but we got a pretty big bad reputation.
That bad reputation attracted all sorts of bad people and slowly but surely our merry band of misfits became diluted with other unsavory characters. The culture changed, people moved away from 4chan, and 4chan stopped producing memes and jokes. Instead we create an endless stream of pepes and wojak. The only joke left here is ourselves.

oh also, people have been trying to weaponize the 4chan horde since it's inception. It's where the meme "not your personal army" came from cause we had to state it so freaking often.

Since the original people who understood this have left, it's left 4chan vulnerable to being recruited or "steered" into the path of an opponent. This thread seems pretty benign, but /pol/ has teams of dedicated people who's only job is to try to recruit the horde to their cause. I feel like /pol/ has become a test bed for understanding the horde mentality and figuring out what tactics and techniques work and which don't. I fear the day they master their tactics and take it outside of 4chan.

Genuinely I've seen plenty of protests and they are just the weakest of us doing social therapy. If they are allowed to scream about it in public, then maybe it isn't so bad. 4chan teaching the world how to help/care/share so long as you always know that OP is a homosexual, then we good.
