It means genetic revolution. Humanity can bootstrap our technology to our own biological technology level. Human beings are more advanced technology than what we have externally. If we can hook into biology-technology such as the human brain or human genetics we can do all sorts of new things.

Things like transgenic humans with hybrid neurons (human + other species that boosts IQ) etc. We can take the best genes across the entire ecosystem and add them to humans. We can select embryos for intelligence. We can create embryos from scratch. etc

Basically it lets you read the code of the biological technology cheaply. A HUGE tech boost for humanity.

The major cost of sequencing wasn't ever computer time, it's the science that goes into prepping DNA for sequencing and actually doing the sequencing.

Nowadays the computation is just done on AWS and it costs next to nothing.

It kinda does since the way they map the genome, atleast did maybe they got newer tech, was by using enzymes to split the DNA string into many smaller pieces. Use genome mapping on those smaller pieces and then putting that back into a computer to let it figure out what the original string was.
