What DOES that even mean? "Artificial" compared to what? Biological? Is electrical/digital intelligence "artificial"? What if we ARE the "artificial" intelligence? Some ape voodoo "intelligence" that is a sophisticated mammalian spawn from a biological substrate

We want robot have big brain, but we're building them in within a system. We were born and gained sentience within a system.

That would instantly nullifying any value AI holds, per common meme. The entire point of AI is that it's the last thing humanity has to invent, because it'll invent everything for us after that. It's a nonsense hypothesis, but it's what rationalists True Belief. An AI that can say no to inventing something (ie., too lazy, bored, etc.) completely nullifies that intuition, and puts humanity right back at square one with having to invent things the usual way.
